Kavrepalanchowk: The expansion project for the Sanga-Dhulikhel road along the Araniko Highway is set to resume its progress following recent developments.

An agreement has been reached to recommence construction activities in the Banepa-Budol area, which had been halted for the past one and a half months. This pause was a result of a court order from the High Court Patan, which mandated a suspension of construction works, including culvert installations along the Banepa-Budol section.

Construction activities are now slated to resume promptly, as local stakeholders and the petitioners have agreed to withdraw the legal case. This consensus was reached during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chair of the District Coordination Committee, Kavrepalanchowk, Rim Bahadur Tamang.

Furthermore, it has been agreed to reroute water from the under-construction culvert to the Chandeshwari rivulet through a separate drainage system within the road boundaries, bypassing individual land areas.

Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma confirmed that the construction impasse has been effectively resolved through the agreement to withdraw the court case and redirect water from the culvert to the river.

Previously, thirteen individuals from Budol in Banepa municipality-6 had filed a writ petition on March 3, citing the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel-Sindhuli-Bardibas Road Project Office Bhaktapur, project chief Rajendra Das, and Banepa-based ward offices 6 and 7 as defendants.

The expansion project for the Suryabinyaak-Sanga and Sanga-Dhulikhel roads, initiated in March 2023 at a cost of Rs 4 billion 56.4 million, is aimed at completion within three years. Encompassing an 8.4-kilometer stretch from Sanga to Dhulikhel, the project aims to enhance connectivity and infrastructure along the crucial Araniko Highway.
